Winter: December 1st - February 28th
Spring: March 1st - May 31st
Summer: June 1st - August 31st
Fall: September 1st - November 30th
As August rolls around and September nears, Summer is quickly dissolving into Fall. So with this change of season, I was wondering what the best season is for sports? Sure, every season has its advantages, but one has to have more exciting events than others, right? Well let’s start with the season we are currently in, Summer. I rank Summer the worst season for sports. Summer features the NBA Draft and the majority of the MLB season, but besides that, there really is nothing else. I just feel like Summer features the longer, less eventful times in the sports world. So I guess the term “The Dog Days of Summer” applies to sports, too. Then we move into September with Fall. I believe Fall is the second best season for sports. Fall features the start of the NFL, the MLB Playoffs, and start of the NBA season. All three of the biggest sports in the U.S. are featured in this season, and it easily falls (get it?) into one of the best seasons for sports with these events. Next, we have Winter. I think WInter is the third best season for sports. It has college basketball, the NFL Playoffs, and the NBA regular season. But there’s one problem. While it does have a lot of major sports, only one of them is largely watched, which is the NFL PLayoffs. While most basketball fans track their favorite teams, rarely do they watch a regular season game. It’s not exactly the same with college basketball, but still, the regular season isn’t quite the same as other sports. So while they have an abundance of events in Winter, most aren’t exactly quality events. And finally, the best rated season to watch sports is Spring. Similar to WInter, Spring has TONS of sports events, but this time they are all quality events. For the NFL, the Super Bowl just ended and the buzz of it is still spreading, there is the NFL Draft, the largest and most popularized draft of any sport, and there is the NFL offseason, all in a few months. But how about the NBA? Well, the Playoffs are in April, so that’s the most exciting NBA moment all year. But what about the MLB? Well, the MLB season starts in April, something fans wait 5 months for. And just to put the cherry on top. There is the NCAAM March Madness, a month long event that is watched by over 70% of sports fans. So yeah, it’s pretty clear that Spring is the best season for sports.
